The Piano S2 Keyart.
Purpose
The Piano is a warm ABC series about everyday Australians playing piano in public. The key art needed to instantly signal "piano" while capturing the show's joyful, inclusive tone.
Creative Strategy
I developed the concept of turning the piano into the stage: hosts walk across a bold strip of keys styled as a pedestrian crossing, an instant visual cue for "piano," paired with playful movement. Rejecting talent-show tropes like spotlights and judging panels, I chose a footpath instead, grounding the show's "everyday" spirit. I art directed the shoot, including styling, then directed the retouching, creating two versions using a bold colour palette, for flexibility across placements while staying tonally consistent. AI helped explore concepts fast, but final art was shot live with presenters for authentic chemistry, with graphics built in retouching. I then oversaw rollout across digital, OOH, and animated billboards.
